Work stress week
It is very important to take mental strength seriously in the workplace. CBS figures have shown that according to employees, very common reasons for sick leave are; (1) psychological fatigue due to work and (2)harassment and/or bullying by supervisor and colleagues (StatLine, 2021). This shows the importance of mental health in the workplace and the impact it has on employee vitality.
Often we all tend to focus on sick leave management. This approach focuses on solving pre-existing problems. Really tackling the root cause is thus relegated to the background. Through preventive measures, risks are identified early. Awareness on the part of the employer and employee can ensure that burnout symptoms, for example, are prevented or limited in duration. By focusing not only on treatment or risk prevention, but also on “improving” the entire work situation, the mental strength of employees in the workplace can be improved. A renewed balance between stress and energy can contribute to the sustainable employability of all employees. Lamers Zorg & Arbeid is affiliated with branch organization Oval, which focuses on sustainable employability. From November 15 to 19, we are organizing the “Week of Work Stress” in cooperation with Oval. We do this because we think it is important to put more emphasis on job satisfaction, prevention and development. For more information, we like to refer you to Week of Work Stress.
Do you have questions or would you like to pursue a more preventative work policy so that mental strength becomes central in your company? If so, please contact your regular contact person at Lamers Zorg & Arbeid. We are happy to help you achieve sustainable employability within your company.
